Updating fields in word

Thank you for your reply, as it happens I did find that page via google prior to asking and couldn't get it to work, I have tried again still without sucess so I guess I must be doing something wrong.I attach a test document with the fields in but not working, any help would be much appreciated. Did you tab out of the text field after inputting something? If you would like to donate, please use the appropriate donate button to access Pay Pal. he purpose of this Microsoft Word Tips & Microsoft Word Help page is to introduce and review some of the versatile capability available in Word to insert specialized data in your documents by using fields.I'll cover the basic methods for inserting fields into your document and some advanced VBA methods for updating and working with field code.If you don’t see text next to the button, look for the icon pointed out in the image below. Select “Document Information” from the “Categories” drop-down list.In the list of “Field names”, select “Doc Property”.How can I create a field that the user can input either text or date etc.

To insert the value of a built-in or a custom property into your document, place your cursor where you want to insert the value and click the “Insert” tab.

Everything is working fine, except for updating the links in the Word documents.

When trying to update a link in Word by right-clicking on it and selecting the "update link" option it brings up the Macro warning dialog for the spreadsheet, asking whether I want to activate Macros or not.

A list of all the custom properties (both built-in and ones you added) displays in the “Property” list in the “Field Properties” section in the middle of the dialog box.

Select the custom property you want to insert into your document from the list and click “OK”. If you change the value of the custom property, you can update the fields in your document to reflect the change by selecting all the fields, which can be easily done by selecting all the content in the document, and pressing F9.
